A Family Run Business
Creating a product was never on the top of my mind. Hello, my name is Tommy Jackson. For years now I have been the owner of a professional tile and grout cleaning company in San Antonio, Texas. Our company does an excellent job of cleaning grout professionally. Our crews have the right tools and the right training to make our customer’s grout look beautiful. We primarily work in higher-end homes in North San Antonio. It’s not unusual for one of our customers to spend $1500 to $3000 – just to clean their grout. And while I appreciate that kind of investment as a business owner, I realize that not everyone wants to spend that kind of money just to clean his or her grout. What if there was a product that could deliver professional results at a fraction of the cost?
That’s when I started on a journey to develop a product that truly worked. But it couldn’t be just “any” product; it had to be superior to all of the other grout cleaners that were already out there. The truth is, I wanted to create the world’s best grout cleaner (thus the name of our product). I met with a local chemist and told her my goal, “I want to make the world’s best grout cleaner, and it has to be superior to all the other grout cleaners out there”. So we put our heads together, considered different formulas, chemicals, and concoctions, adjusting the formula as we went-along, until we finally created “The World’s Best Grout Cleaner”. Now, in order for it to be the world’s best, I had to test it against the top contenders in the market. So that’s exactly what we did.
I began to research the “best grout cleaners on the market”. After much research, I found an independent website that tests products to determine which ones are “the best”. This unbiased site chose 5 products: Grout Eez, Rejuvenate, Tech, Mapei (more on that later), and Zep. (The article can be found here: https://bestreviews.com/best-grout-cleaners.) What’s interesting is one of the products (Mapei Grout Refresh) is not a grout cleaner at all – it’s a grout recoloring system (which, as a professional in the business, I know the difference and it’s not even close to being a cleaner). Anyway, in order to be the “World’s Best Grout Cleaner”, we had to test ourselves against “the best”, so that’s exactly what we did.
We set up a “blind test” with some of our customers in order to test each product. We gave them a small amount of each of the five cleaners (we excluded the Mapei Grout Refresh since it isn’t a cleaner) in unmarked bottles (the 4 Best from the website and our product). We observed as they tested each product, one at a time, on a dirty area of grout in their own homes. All of the products performed well, but two products stood out. We moved to another area and asked our customers to test the two finalists. In every test, our customers chose our product as “the best”, even though they did not know it was “our” product. At that point, we felt confident that we had truly created “The World’s Best Grout Cleaner”.
